A clever title goes here

Friday night we returned to the shelter. We were supposed to fill out forms for evacuees there with information like "are you looking for any family members?" or "do you need anything right now?" It was so cool to sit down and actually talk to these people. Most of the people i spoke to were in high spirits, even depending on the Lord to provide for them. How encouraging is that?

I met this one man named Eddie. He was a white man who wore a toopay (i didnt know how to spell that, so i just spelled it the way it should be spelled.) He was not a christian, though a small new testament Bible lay on his bed. A hand out from another volunteer im sure. I couldnt tell if he had been reading it or not. He told me about three family members who were missing. His aunt, who went up into her attic to escape the rising waters, his cousin, who hasnt liked him since they were 14 because one of her friends had a crush on him (this man was in his 40s now.) and his Uncle. He told me about his instruments that were lost, and even some playboy magazines that were probably worth a lot of money because he has been collecting them for years. but now he does not know how to claim those things since they were destroyed. He told me that the only things he could use right now was: a place to stay for one night where he could sleep in a real bed and not hear 14970187 other people sleeping around him, a trip to walgreens to pick up his medicine, and some nail clippers. I'm hoping my dad will go back and visit him with his guitar. I think they could jam!

I met this little girl named Laterial. She was a sassy six year old who could hoolahoop like nothing else! She was so excited about starting school on Monday and wanted to show us her new outfit, and her new leopard pajamas, and her new polkadotted undies. Then she pulled out some BRATS dolls and told us that "black girls dress skanky, but not white girls." and we insisted that some white girls do...but Laterial said, "yea, but only the ones that want to be black." hahahahahahaha!!!!

I can't wait to go back and check up on these great people.
